The first presentation of data on genetic recombination in E. coli
K-12.  The exact date is uncertain: probably Thursday --  See P305
for elaboration.  It had the great advantages of a forum where every
criticism could be thrashed out, rather than left to innuendo as it diffused
through the critical scientific community.  Cf P-266.  The terminology
was daunting; but we had not yet standardized on say phe for phenyl-
alanine; so I was using PHI instead.
