Node: Haldane, JBS. Noted geneticisit of the age, with many anticipations
in mathematical as well as physiological genetics. I first met him at
the AAAS meetings in Boston, December 1946, along with Helen Spurway who carried
her then favorite Habrobracon wasps in her purse. They were to be
exemplary genetic material a/c haploid males allowing for immediate expression of
mutant phenotypes. I have remained one of his devotees, notwithstanding
our sharp divergence on political issues, and welcomed the chance to
visit him in Calcutta in 1947. Cf: P-274;
