I request permission to enroll in Chem42 - second semester organic,
having passed placement on Chem41 on basis of self-study. Mention a
few organic preps (acetaldehyde; dyestuffs) but realize I may be
deficient in lab experience. Outline interest in physiological
chemistry and working on enzymatic inhibitors of mitosis.
Stodola had kept this letter and provided it to me many years later
(He proved to be an inspiring teacher and friend. He spent most of
his career in the USDA (?Peoria?); did research on gibberellins.
