Lamb Cl arendon Laboratdry Parks Road &ford, Engl anL: Dear Dr. Lamd: I was very happy to receive your letter and its imp1 ication that you were 1 i kely to remember such a poor student of physics, or is that perhiCps what was so outstanding! The on1 y regret I had was that your postscript might have tempered my pleasure in answering your note. t certainly do remember the opportunity of attending your lectures very well indeed and I'm only sorry that I am about to move to Stanford at a time too late to be able to have you as a nearby co1 legue. I knew that you were in E gland but had forgotten just where or I might have been presumpt F us enough to try to look you up when we passed through Oxford 1 st Auguat. As it was, I'm afraid we did not wander very far from the Mitre Hotel and a quick tour of the colleges in the company of some friends from London. I hope that the course of events is going to bring you back to Stanford some time and if -3 that you wi 11 remember to give us a chance to show off the new Medical Center there to you. Thi s dev- elopment at Stanford promises to be an archi tectura! gem as well as an exciting center for biological research. Yours, as ever, Joshua Lederberg JL/mk
