Stone is a professor of bacteriology at Stanford,
Nobel Laureate at a young age, with a record of research in
microbial genetics, also deeply concerned about biological
warfare. He writes a letter to the President warning about the
need for planetary quarantine, in both directions.
There is a real Jeremy Stone who might also complain about the
appropriation of his name. This Stone hjas been the long time
prime mover of the Federation of American Scientists , and deeply involved
in many aspects of disarmament, nuclear and otherwise.

B. Davis told me that Michael Crichton had been a student in his
microbiology class at Harvard Medical School, and he would have heard
about my genetics work at that time.
My calendar refers to a Viking meeting on June 18.
