Biochemical Studies of Environmental Factors Essential in Transformation of Pneumococcal Types
Description:
This paper presented by McCarty and Harriet Taylor at the June 1946 Cold Spring Harbor Symposium was largely written by McCarty and was part of his effort to bring his work on transformation to "some kind of reasonable conclusion" prior to his leaving the lab that July. By the time this paper was published, McCarty recognized that his push for closure caused him to reach certain conclusions and include some data that would soon be proved erroneous by subsequent experiments by Rollin Hotchkiss, also in Avery's lab.
