Dear Michael :

       I am extremely glad. to have your criti-
cism of Ward's paper.  I can easily see now the d-if-
ference between your minutely quantitative studies
and the very rwh ones of Ward.  Itf s all the dif-
ference between a fine Swiss mat&maker and the ma-
chine which turns out Ingersolls.

       It is a fair question, too, I think,
whether Ward. actually understands the complex mechan-
isms he is dealing Ctii.  If you d.o not mind, I will
show t?:e letter to Rous, etc.

         ifelen kas written Xina about the Phila-
delphia Orchestra tickets for next year.  It is a ;rreet
disappointment to us, but Helen has become so sensitive
to colds that we have concluded very reluctantly to
give up the concert 5.  We both thank you and Wina very
ruch for offering us tile tickets again and for all the
years you let us have them.
