- TIMOTHY JOHNSON: I described earlier, of course, the magnitude of this large operation of research--and we think of it primarily, I think, as citizens scattered throughout the United States--of it as a research organization. Is it really accurate to describe its primary intent and purpose as research?
- DONALD S. FREDRICKSON: Yes, that's its main purpose. It's a knowledge seeker--the largest in the world--and its job is to discover all the secrets we can about all aspects of life and to translate those into things that will make human life much better and more pleasant and longer.
