The beginning in a new year of my life which I hope to [be] very successful in this world of science, dictators, and friends. I can only wish that my life could be as happily spent in other parts of this great world as I am enjoying it so much. I am wishing a[t] the opening of this book everyone except Hitler, Mussolini, Gen. Franco & the dictator which I cannot hope to remember. I wish these a very bad & unhappy year of life even if it means to take their life--everyone & happy & prosperous new year. Signed--Martin Rodbell.
