Receptor-Mediated Shifts in cGMP and cAMP Levels in Neuroblastoma Cells
Description:
Nirenberg's interest in neuroblastoma research defined his work by the early 1970s. In this article, neuroblastoma cells are used to examine the various responses of neurons to neurotransmitters based on differences in tissue and cell type. The experimental strategy is to use the relatively homogeneous clonal neuroblasts, which have excitable membranes and respond well to chemical and electrical stimuli, to define receptor mediated responses more clearly.
