Description:
This article describes a simple enzymatic method for the quantitative detection of phenylalanine in blood by using snake venom. Useful as a test for diagnosis of the disease phenylketonuria and evaluating the effectiveness of a diet designed to be low in phenylalanine, the method is rapid and precise.
