The Rosalind Franklin Papers

Title:
Notes on computing assistance for tobacco mosaic virus research [to John Desmond Bernal] pdf (39,891 Bytes) ocr (921 Bytes)
Description:
The mathematical analysis of Franklin's x-ray diffraction data required hundreds of calculations, which had to be done by hand before the advent of electronic computers. Franklin requested and was granted funds to hire three "computers"--women with mathematics training--to assist with this work. This memo to Bernal details her progress with these arrangements.
