Description:
In this photo, Koop demonstrated an operation for correcting biliary atresia congenital absence obliteration (or underdevelopment of the components of the bile ducts) at this hospital founded by Chinese medical students in 1917. He was visiting Japan to lecture at the First International Congress of Therapy, which took place on November 10-13, 1961.
