Dedicuted to the Preservation of the Home o James C. Dobson, Ph.D., Director November 2, 1981 Dr. Everett C. Koop 200 Independence Avenue S.W. Washington, D.C. 20201 Dear Dr. Koop: I had the privilege of being in the conference room the day you spoke to members of the Family Research Group this past September. Unfor- tunately, I had to slip our early and didn't get to meet you personally. You might recall, however, that I asked what you expected from your con- firmation hearings and what we could do to support you. My purpose in writing today is merely one of encouragement and prayer- ful support. I know you have been the target of a vicious attack this past year, and am deeply appreciative of your willingness to take this abuse on behalf of those who agree with your moral stance. I certainly count myself in that number of professionals who stand with you on the abortion issue and other matters of right and wrong. It would be a pleasure to meet you during an upcoming visit to Wash- ington. As you may know, I have asked to see the President, but in- stead have been invited to meet with some White House staff members. This may occur in February. If so, perhaps we could share a cup of coffee then. God bless you, and don't hesitate to call me if I can be of help, f Pediatrics cc: Dr. Elizabeth McSherry Mr. Jerry Regier Arcadia Professional Center o 41 East Foothill Blvd., Suite 102 o Arcadia, CA 91006 o Telephone: (2l3) 4451579
