DeBakey, M.D. 1200 M*D* Anderson Blvd. Houston 25, Texas Dear Doctor DeBakey: St. Elizabeth Hospital is a 600 bed hospital currently planning an extensive expansion program in the near future. Ile would.appreciate it if You would consider this hospital for the cardiovascular and stroke rehabilitation centers which are being planned in this State and in the nation under the auspices of the Federal Government. Doctor Angelo Riberi, a member of the cardiac team is also a member of the Cardio-Vascular Society. He assures me that you would be the man best qualified to tell us who to get in touch with to offer our hospital as a center. The doctors here have an active and progressive de- partment of Surgery with a chief interest in developing the potential 'of the younger surgeons, as well as utiliz- ing the knowledge, skill and experience of the others. In the Cardio-Vascular Section there have been over two-hundred reconstructive procedures on the carotid artery for the prevention of strokes done in the past two years. They are also doing complete coronary and other types of angiographic studies together with all the corrective work in the areas of congenital, and acquired cardiac anomalies. These are just a resume of the activities in progress at this hospital which have been made possible only because of the interested and qualified men. 16p 1964 -'dchael DeBakey, M.D. -2- Dec Still you please let us know to ivhom we should apply for consideration to participate in this program?
