HRP Executive Staff Meeting, Monday, December 23 Gene Rubel provided highlights of the legislative scene pertaining to HRP and the Congressional action on Friday in the Senate. Gene recognized Barbara Kivimae, Libby Merrill, and Colin Rorrie foy- their assistance during the whole legislative process. He indicated that their help was well recognized by people on the Hill, and he was par- ticularly appreciative of their efforts. Gene Rubel announced the appointment of Dr. Z. Erik Farag as Associate Director for Program Development, DCHP. Pete Peterson announced that Jack Whitney and Erik Fai-ag would be providing assistance for the area designation requirements document. Their work will be in the area of criteria for waiver requirements. will be held on January 3, 1975 in Pete announced that a meeting Conference Room "B" for ',,ley staff in the three Divisions to cover many of the current developments regarding HRP. Gene Rubel announced three additional meetings for HRP. On January 7 and 9 there will be sessions with a variety of @,ublic interest groups to explain HRP. A meeting will be held on Janu@ry 6 for all staff in the three Divisions. Ruth Richards indicated that Tom Croft will be addressing all staff on organizational implications for HRP. This meeting will be on January 10. Tom Croft reported that Dr. Endicott endorsed the proposal for a separate bureau and that HRA is working to get the organization package moving to H. Tom also stated that all staff will be asked to give three choices of where they would like to be assigned in the new organization. A committee made up of two staff from each of the Divisions will serve as the vehicle for reviewing staff, their choices, background, and helping to begin making appropriate selections. Page Two - HRP Executive Staff According to Tom, a considerable amount of time is being devoted to pulling together budget materials to be utilized by the Department in requesting funds for HRP. Two areas where additional staffing will be needed over what has been projected is with the National Council on Health Planning and Development and the assurances part of the health resources development program. Dr. Graning discussed his work on the issue of excessive facilities which is being developed for the Forward Plan 1977-1981. Chuck Henson reported on the new EEO reporting system that must be utilized after January 1. There will be no HRP Executive Staff meeting on Monday, December 30. Colin C.
