The Missouri RMP program emphasis was modified based on national program guidelines and central program staff advice. Heart, stroke and cancer categorical emphasis was expanded to include other major categories such as kidney failure and diabetes. This was followed by placing emphasis on the common denominators of these conditions. The Missouri RMP was requested to reduce its emphasis on the use of computers to enhance the care of these patients. Anthony L. Komaroff summarizes these historical developments in "Regional Medical Programs in Search of a Mission." [AER]
