the Missourians took steps to insure that some of the programs begun
under RMP would continue
It is difficult to say whether the Missouri RMP was responsible for
many significant activities that are funded and operational today. The
following activities appear to be closely related: 1) Missouri Kidney
Program; 2) services to the coronary patient including CPR training,
ambulance services with trained staff and modern equipment; 3)
emergency services for other than the cardiovascular patient; 4) case
registers for kidney, diabetes, and cancer patients; 5) computerized
diagnostic services such as ECG, radiology, and clinical laboratory;
and, 6) computer support for hospital records in addition to fiscal
records. In 1995, the VA Hospital ECG cart contains a computer and
printer that provides a description of the ECG and a computer diagnosis
along with the curvolinear ECG display, a very common practice in most
hospitals today. [AER]
