Dear Mary,

     I wonder if I thanked you for the slip of
the Chinese silk.   Thanks a lot: its fine and I wore
it yesterday with great pleasure.   I was invited to
&inner in the suburbs and was driven out and had a
fine time.   The woman who asked me is Asso. Prof. of
Pathology at Cornell where the man at the head of the
department, Dr. Ewing, is regarded as the best
Patho?ogist in New York if not in the country. He is
the greatest ezqert on the pathology of cancer in this
country.   I met him at dinner Thursday night at the
Murphys and found him very charm#ing.   The woman
who is is Associate is a niece of Chancy Depewls
and a very lively entertainer.    She is IIlrrrried to
a lawyer hn& has no  children.

    We expect Carla &nd Carlita Thursday.   Carla
is to have dinner and spend the evening with Ned.
Carlita dnd   Mrs. Sheldon are to have dinner with
me.   Mrs. Sheldon wants to get tickets for Carlita
and me to see Ned's play but as the house is sold out
until July I do not think that she will succeed. Any
way I think that Carlita would enjoy Ben Hur more for
it is a perfectly gorgeous movy.

  June 3, 1926.   This has remained on the typewritr
half done for I have been very busy.

  Dr. White and Dr. Johnston were here all day yes-
tertiJ to see the TB work and both were enthusiastic
over our results of this year.   We are quite excited
over them.   Doan came back today after a fine wedding
trig/

  Last evening Dr. White and I went to see Henry IV
an all atar performance which was gre::.t with Otis
skinner ad Fallstaff.

   I notice that Henry invested pretty much all
the xbney.  I don(t need any from there for my trip
but I thought t'nat you might need some . There
is still 200 and the June and July coupons may
give you enought.

  I donIt like to have that old wound still open.
