"The Genetic Control of Protein Synthesis" (Korkes Memorial Lecture)
Description:
Crick delivered the Korkes Memorial Lecture at Duke University on October 24, 1960 before a general rather than a specialist audience. In correspondence concerning the lecture, Crick wrote (September 16, 1960): "I have had a difficult time trying to decide on a title. Of the two subjects with which I am closely occupied at the moment, the first (the determination of the certain bond lengths and angles in crystal structures) is too dull, and the second (the theory of genetic complementation) is too specialized . . . After much thought I would suggest 'The genetic control of protein synthesis'."
