The presentation will be made on Thursday evening, November 3, at a Special Session of our 88th Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Calif. This will be a really distinguished occasion and we hope very much that you will make your plans to be present. I enclose a description of the Lasker Awards and the brochure of last year. At that time and at the time of the presentation itself in San Francisco it will be appropriate for you to make a brief response indicating some of the highlights of your experience. The Association will be happy to reimburse you for travel expense incurred in connection with these visits to New York and San Francisco. It would be expected that you would remain in the United States from October 20 to November 3 and we have no doubt that you can use this time to advantage. Your hotel and meals will be covered for this period. Let me add my own warm personal congratulations on this new honor that has come to you and the hope that you will have deep satisfaction in this recognition. It represents one of the top American awards, as you know.
