Crick Laboratory of Molecular Biology University Postgraduate Medical School Hills Road Cambridge, England Dear Francis: 1967 I thank you for sending me a copy of your letter of 13 April to Jim Watson. I read the typescript of Honest Jim once, quite a long while ago. I have not seen the revised version. I have written two rather strong letters to Jim aTbout it, my second letter being in answer- to his reply to my first one. I mentioned only the strongest objections that I had to his book, and the greatest mistakes in it. Jim hasn't answered my second letter. With respect to the points that you make in your letter to Jim, I may sa,y that I a,gree with you about all of them, to the extent that I have knowledge about them and to the extent that my memory of the book is reliable. I may say that I was especially unhappy, when I read the book, about the treatment of you and Sir Lawrence Bragg, and also unhappy about some of his comments about my wife, my son, myself, Rosalind, and others. With best regards, I am Sincerely yours, b Linus Pauling cc: President Pusey Sir La,wrence Bragg M. H. F. Wilkins P. 5. Wilson P. Doty J. C. Kendrew M. F. Perutz A. Klug J. T.
