The Francis Crick Papers

Title:
Letter from Aaron Klug to Francis Crick pdf (260,618 Bytes) ocr (6,278 Bytes)
Description:
In his letter Klug raised some methodological concerns about experiments conducted by two researchers, Arne Leth Bak and Jesper Zeuthen, in support of an article on chromosome structure for which Crick was a co-author. Moreover, Klug regretted that "[s]ince you left, one doesn't have the fresh flow of news which may stop one from getting into a rut in one's thinking," affirming Crick's longstanding role as a clearinghouse of information and criticism at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology. Finally, Klug revealed that in attempting to detail the structure of chromosomal DNA, he was "more bewildered than ever" by the latest electron micrographs (photographs made through an electron microscope) of DNA crystals.
