February 27th, 1968 Sir Peter Medawar, K.B., C.B.E., -J) 0 ll . d* u* , F.R.S. National Institute for Piledical Research Mill Hill London, R.W.7. Dear Peter I enjoyed your review very much, even though you are occasionslly too kind. I liked your points about the history of science, and also your remarks about luck and privilege. I don't really believe the DNA-genetic code story should be called "the greatest achievement of science in the txntieth century". Surely the Physicists' Revolution, from about the turn of the century to the discovery of quantum mechanics in the mid-twenties, equally deserves this title? Vhy not put avoid this comparison? "mid-twentieth century'* to Xost of all I liked your ending. wonderland is a touch of genius. The picture of Jim in Looking back I now realize that was just the way it felt. F.H.C. Crick . P.S. Did you know that John Griffith was related to Fred Griffith? I think a nephew.
