portance of research by the individual health agencies.
has always been a difficult situation for most health agencies
because contributors seem to wonder why it is necessary to
collect so much money when the Federal Government is contribut-
ing large sums for the National Institutes.

Some day when you have a chance, I would like you to write a
letter to me on this subject emphasizing the importance of re-
search by voluntary organizations,  :de would then try to circu-
late this among our affiliates so that they, in turn, can assure
people that we never have enough money from the Federal or vol-
untary standpoint for research,
