Annotation by Joshua Lederberg:
Node: Lewin, Ralph came to Yale just as I left; inherited some
odds and ends in lab; outstanding phycologist; always distinctive
point of view. Gordin Kaplan; [also committed to Esperanto]; we visited them
in Halifax ca. 1954-56; again in La Jolla (12/27/60 with Bruno
Zimm and Ben Volcani as other guests); and I again 1/6/99, with
Christopher Wills as guest. On latter occasion he told me he was working
on predatory (flypaper) bacteria, Saprospira? Lanna Cheng Lewin works
on marine (sic) insects  Halobates?

KW: Lewin just moved to Halifax; with Joyce Lewin, from Yale;
