Dear Miss Lieb,
I have tried a few experiments with mutants from #1-15, and have gotten no evidence of recombination. This does not exclude entirely the possibility of recombination under other cultural conditions, or with other mutants, but to my mind, at least, this seems rather improbable. If your needs can be met with K-12 derivatives, I will be very glad to send you any strains that we have.
Yours sincerely,
Joshua Lederberg
Assistant Professor of Genetics.
