Dear Josh,
Thanks very much for the phase variation abstract and the review of Ephrussi's book. I'd appreciate it very much if you'd send me more about the former as soon as its available.
I'm sending along a reprint of the recent PNAS paper, plus one of our growth symposium papers - by now rather out of date.
Even though I was occupied more than I thought I would be with society business (thanks to a certain individual I needn't name), I enjoyed the correspondence and was very glad I had a chance to talk with you and Esther.

I guess you detected a sort of troubled look on my face during the first 2 or 3 days. I'll have to practice putting on a poker face.
Rob
P.S. A check covering your expenses will be sent within a week.
