Dear Professor,
I am in need of advice and, after reading of your award as "the outstanding young bacteriologist of the country" I realized I could never find anyone better qualified to help me.
I would like to know how you began your career, for I am interested in the same thing, and I would especially like to know what college courses helped you most.
I start in September at Beloit College, and plan on majoring in biology.

Realizing how busy you must be I do not wish to inconvenience you, but I would really appreciate any suggestions you could give me.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Gering
