Annotation by Joshua Lederberg:
Node: Inoki's story as far as I know has never been fully followed
up.  So it is not clear if it is an antibody-induced phase variation.
I quizzed George Cross about it in the '90s.

KW: trypanosome serotype variation; cf. Paramecium (Sonmneborn); acridine;

I commend studies of removal of parabasal bodies.  Cf later Hirota.
