Sorry to have delayed until now writing to thank you for looking after me so well in Madison. The rest of the trip was equally
long, and I had a very good
time with Jimmy et al. in Urbana and the Novicks in Chicago. The SAB program committee meeting was a pain in the neck, however;
we had a bang-up fight
with the local committee in Chicago over banquet arrangements. Said committee, composed of middle-aged physicians, had tentatively
arranged to take the Marine Room at the Hotel with exclusive rights to Rudee Vallee and his floor show, tickets $7 per person
and a guaranteed[SIC] minimum attendance of 800. I hope the Society can get out from under this, but am not sure.
The Controllers office is not sure (as of Monday) whether your income tax statement has already been sent out, so I asked
them to check up and airmail it
to you if not already taken care of. Let me know if it doesn't turn up within the next week.
You have been scooped by Stephen Potter, I think : he has a new book out in "Lifemanship".
