Annotation by Joshua Lederberg:
KW:  Wendell Stanley; DSB; C A Knight;

My response to Cohen draft for Dict Sci Biog.

"in my limited encounter with WS I never thought he had much of an
intuition for the biological or genetic. Perhaps that was why he was
undaunted by the iudea of 'crystallizing life.'
  In like vein he admitted[*] he was very critical of Avery ..."\

my surprise Stanley
is not in the Nobel Prize compendium on Mol Biol (ed. by Baltimore)

for DSB I suggest Hershey and Chase (1952) as milestone for DNA
transfection

[*] probably referring to Stanley article 1970
 The "undiscovered" discovery. Arch. Environ. Health 21: 256-262.
