Dear Josh,
In accord with your request I have just sent off to you a culture of Weed's E coli B (your "1069 A"). My cultures of the copper mutants (1069 B1,2,3,4) are all reverted to Lac+, and hence I have not sent you any of these. As Alec has already written you, I have no information about Weed's B except that it is, of course, a lactose fermenter, and I believe he states in his paper that he got it from Seymour Cohen. Perhaps either Weed or Cohen could supply you with further information.
Are you resuming work on the "copper phenomenon?" A chap here has also been studying it, and doing crosses with some copper mutants in K12.
Hope your remodeling proceeds apace. How goes the [ . . . ] imperialism in the new bacteriology building? Best wishes to all the lab.
Sincerely,
Helen [Bernstein]
