My Dear Coons:
My colleague, Gus Nossal, has just sent me the enclosed draft which he is sending to Nature. I thought you'd like to see it.
There seems to be a number of other enthusiasts for this problem (e.g., Mel Cohn in St. Louis) so it seemed best not to recite private communications in this brief note. My own feeling is that the 'exclusion' will turn out to be a phenotypic effect, but to test this will require other kinds of experiments. I'm looking forward to seeing you at Gatlinburg.
Sincerely,
Joshua Lederberg
P.S. Thanks for the fluorescein isocyanate and the address.
I've not yet put it to good use, but intend to, and am storing the ampoules at -20 degrees C.
