Dear Joshua
I apologise [sic] for not replying sooner. I have been in the midst of academic politics. I think very highly of Freese [sic] and consider myself fortunate that he has been in my lab. He is definitely intelligent and as an experimentalist works very hard. Now his interests appear to be shifting toward a more biochemical approach and it is likely that he will move to the enzyme level. This I take to be a strong sign in his favor. He is still somewhat naive about biology but it is becoming less obvious. I suspect that within several years he will be rated on the same level as Stent and Levinthal.
I enclose a curriculum vitae on Freese [sic].
With best regards
Jim
