The day before yesterday I received a letter from a certain R.D. Brock (Canberra) informing me of "the sudden death"
of Bob Wright. I loved Bob, and I am distressed. I know that, to you too, Bob was more than just a student, and I am sure
I know how you feel.
I suppose that either Brock or [ . . . ] have written to you. Do you know what happened? All Brock said to me is that Bob
suddently [sic] died. This laconic statement worries me no end. Could you drop me a few lines to say what you know.
