Dear Joshua: Bit by bit I am catching up on The Literature. Yesterday I ran across a picture of you in the Chicago Tribune
of the A.C.S. under date 12-22 -- which I had not seen before. You look pleased and happy in that starched shirt and white
tie. [Very becoming indeed]. Questions -- trivial to be sure -- but you should know. I do not recognize the Lady labelled

several pictures -- one displayed in Madison. Mrs Tatum appears as a deep, sultry brunnette [sic] with what we old horse-men
call a Roman-Nose. Does the Nobel Committee supply a mistress -- along with the award? Would you -- or Esther kindly help

from Antioch College in June has Stanford on his list if hes [sic] successful on his fellowship applications -- (theoretical
physics). I of course am not to determine his career -- but I hinted that

Physics U.S.A. 1959-2000 AD is free like a bird in a cage and that if he wished to retain his, moral and intellectual integrity
a field not dominated or determined by the A.E.C. would offer a freer climate. In fact I agreed with Einstein's statement
-- "that he would take up a trade like plumbing" "in preference to being one of Lewis Strauss's children".
So long [ . . .] the most recent particle from the gene -- again and again -- finally you will end up with D(+) Glucose.
Regards as usual etc
