Annotation by Joshua Lederberg:
Node: Neurospora transformation. This was an important theme in my
personal scientific evolution, from 1945 on -- cf P-1. Tatum reported
some positive results with RNA (sic) / Niu-Mishra; much later
there were established procedures: I am preparing a bibliography;

More:

KW: planned research program for visit to Tatum laboratory
at Stanford  Feb-Apr 1956;
1) hyphal fragments (naked nuclei?) as propagules;
2) DNA transformation in Neurospora
3) nuclear, [plasmid] implantation in Neurospora;
 ... cf later work by Diacumakos;
these plans disrupted by Tatum decision to leave Stanford for Rockefeller;
