In response to your message sent 7 JUN 1977 1643-PDT

Thanks for calling SUMEX-RENEWAL.SIGNIFICANCE to my attention; I
found it to provide an illuminating perspective on the work done here
 at SUMEX-AIM.
The file <CREARY>AI/SM.DOC contains a brief account of the central
points in my SIGLUNCH presentation of June 8, on "The Impact of HPP-Style
AI Work on Scientific Methodology", augmented here and there on the basis
of subsequent reflection. While the brevity of this account may be a source
of some unclarity and the attendant possibility of misinterpretation, I
think that it conveys at least the main thrust of what I have to say on the
subject. Naturally, I would be interested in your reaction, and in discussing
further any points that seem insufficiently developed or questionable.
