Marguerite and I were so sorry to hear that your wife had just passed away -- the force majeure over any of our small plans,
like a hope of renewing the party with you that didn't come off. You should have some consolation, small as that may be,
how hard living was for her -- as Marguerite could not but observe -- and how that could only have worsened if prolonged.
So amongst some intolerably hard alternatives perhaps hers was not the very worst.
Our condolences now; and later after we too are back in New York, let us see more of you soon.
