Dear Beets --
I have not heard further from you about getting started on the piece on Ed Tatum for the APS. Was my suggestion -- that you do the first rough draft -- not agreeable? If not, let me know and perhaps we can exchange roles.
On a connected subject, can you straighten out a puzzling comment by Bill MacElroy. He seems to recall seeing Neurospora in your lab in the summer of 1940, which just doesn't jibe with any other account.
Is he conflating different events, as I suspect?
Or had you looked at Neurospora in some other context before deciding to use it for nutritional-biochemical mutants in early 1941?
These historic details are becoming quite elusive.
Sincerely,
Joshua.
