Ed Tatum
Jim -- Could I ask of you the particular favor to check the University/State Library Archives [mark to note, and the Bact. Dept. I wonder if there is anyone still at UW who remembers Ed as a student. I have written to Perry Wilson and Esmond Snell.] if they have any files of papers letters that might be helpful here.
Besides TATUM as a key word, E.B. Fred's papers just might have some letters bearing on 2 matters that still elude me:
1) What he worked on during his year at Utrecht with Kogl. (1936-37)
2) How his name came to Beadle's attention
Fred or Peterson should have written some letters of recommendation and it would be illuminating to find them.
Josh.
