Dear Josh,
Greetings!
I am prodded to write you by a student in my course who is interested in using base analogues a la Freese to study mutations within an E. coli locus. I thought of the gal locus and wondered whether you or Esther have stocks, mutant at various sites, which you would send us.
Another student, Rivka Rudner, has done a similar thing with the T-D locus of Salmonella. Her results are interesting, especially

the pattern of mutant appearance after 2 NH2 purine treatment of cells synchronized by filtration. The results follow DNA replication as if the mutagen were incorporated in one of paired structures and chose an erroneous mate at replication.
I hope Ruth gave you a good talk last week
Hope to see you both one of these days.
Sincerely,
Francis
