BW in World War II
Dear Prof McFarland
Your 1986 paper in Defense Analysis has only just come to my attention. I wish I had located it much sooner! Yours is the most lucid account I have yet found on the intelligence that motivated the US BW effort at Ft. Detrick. (It sounds more robust than I had visualized)
May I ask you a question!? (I have no experience with the WW-2 archives). If you copied the JCS reports mentioned in your Note 5, would it be feasible for you to recopy and send me those that refer to German BW capability and intentions? I will of course reimburse your costs of copying.
Have you published further on this subject?

(BW)
I have Hinsley through vol 3 pt 2. Have further volumes been published? I have been awaiting what ULTRA might have told about these issues Or has there been some holdup on publication? (I had heard that Mrs. Thatcher was not too pleased.)
Sincerely,
Joshua Lederberg [mark to note below]

(and have been very much concerned about C/BW proliferation in Middle East).
