Letter from Charles R. Drew to Brian Blades (January 18, 1950)
January 24, 1950
Dear Dr. Drew:
I shall be very glad for you to use my name on the application for fellowship in the American College of Surgeons. There is
no question in my mind that you should be a member of the College, not that I feel you will get so much out of the College
although the meetings are sometimes stimulating, but I believe you are more or less obligated because of your position to
belong to the College.
I shall also be glad to discuss the problem of training at Gallinger with you. I am sure you know, however, that I am not
on the staff at Gallinger at the present time and therefore have no official standing or influence as far as the training
program is concerned.
Please give me a ring sometime during January, so that we can get together.
