Dear Josh,
Many thanks for the three reprints. I had no idea of who had done what until I read Maclyn McCarty's paper. Incidentally, with reference to the recognition to Avery's work, that conservative body The Royal Society of London awarded him a Medal in 1944 or 1945 -- I'm sorry to be so vague about the details, but none of the reference books in our library go back to before 1960. You would find it well worth while to check the citation -- I'm sure it will be in the Rockefeller library -- since it refers both to the DNA work and to its genetic implications.
