We arrived in Havre May 1st. We had nice weather all the way. We left Havre May 4th and took the train for Marsielles[sic]. We arrived in Marsielles[sic] May 5th. We thought we would drive our car from Havre to Mars. but after we found out we would have to pay duty. We ship same for

Syria. The condition in this country everything very dear.[sic] The service of telegram railroad and Banks are very slow. I will write you again as soon as I arrive in Syria. [Please send me atonce[sic] $400.00 draft of my drawing account payable to Shaker Debakey[sic] Beyrouth Syria to Jedda[?] Merdjaoun.[sic]] Best regard to you and your family.

April 1921
We left Lake Charles at 11:10 P.M. Friday April 1st 1921. We arrived in New Orleans 6:50 A.M. Saturday. We got on the steamship Missouri 2:30 P.M. We ate supper 7:30 P.M. After supper we went to see them put our car on the ship. It was about 8:25 P.M. They had a hard time because it was so big. After that, we went to bed.
3 Sunday We awoke the next morning about 7:00. We ate breakfast About 7:30 A.M.

We ate dinner about 11:30 A.M. We left New Orleans 1:30 P.M. Sunday April 3rd 1921. We ate supper 7:30 P.M. and then went to bed about 8:30 P.M.
4 Monday We awoke the next at about the same time as I mentioned above and ate breakfast, dinner and supper at about the same time every day. In the evening from about 10 o'clock to 4 o'clock we had a little rough water

18 Monday. It rained after dinner for about an hour. After the rain the water was very pretty. It seemed to be gray and it was very level. There was not any white capped waves.

23 Saturday We could sight land about 9:00 A.M. We arrived in La Palma about 1:30 P.M. and we left about 7:00 P.M.

2. Monday. We went around to see the city with an old sea captain
3 Tuesday. They put our car on the train. One good very strong horse pulled it from the warf[sic] to the train.

Havre 9:00 A.M. On the way to Paris we went through a tunnel that lasted about 2 1/2 minute[sic]. We arrived in Paris 1:00 P.M. We left Paris 2:10 P.M. We saw many small grape vines. From Paris to Marsielles[sic] on the train we went through a tunnel that took us about 8 minutes.
5 Thursday We arrived in Marsielles[sic] 5:30 A.M. We went to the hotel "Little Palace". About 2:30 P.M. We went to the Church on top of a Mountain. It was a very

pretty Church. On the inside we saw many small ships that were hung on the wall. It had swords hung on the wall too. From the top we could see all the city. They had 2 elevators. One would bring you up to the church while in the meantime the other would bring you down. It took 1 3/4 minutes to bring you down or up.
6 Friday We moved from the hotel "Little Palace" to the hotel Grenoble De Savoie.

7 Saturday. We went to see the Park in Marsielles[sic]. It had All kinds of birds. We saw bears, foxes, Wolves, Camels and antelopes. It had all kinds of pictures inside. We didn't see Elephants and Lions.

29 Thursday My father went to Paris to see about the ticket.

24 Monday All passengers got off at Halifax at 10:00 A.M. We left Halifax 12:30 P.M.
25 Tuesday We made 285 miles.
26 Wednesday. We arrived in New York 1:30 P.M.

27. Thursday We arrived in Washington D.C. 7:20 A.M. We changed trians[sic] there. We had to wait until 9:00 A.M. so we took an automobile and drove around. I saw the capitol I saw the white house, and I saw where the Senate meets. I saw where Abe. Lincon[sic] was shot in Fords Theatre and I saw where he died across the street. Washington D.C. is the cleanest city I have seen in all my travels. I saw

Washington's Monument The Southern Railway Station is the largest railway station in the United States which is in Washington, D.C. It costs $4,500,000.00 Washing. D.C. is a very beautiful place. We left Washing D.C. 9:00 A.M.
