Herewith a copy of a letter I have just written to Dr. DeBakey, to tuck away in your files.
This is one of many examples which might be cited as to why your history will be eminently useful, why it will illuminate,
as well as ornament, our uneasy times.
Just don't fret too long over Billings. That era must be described, as a high-water mark against which all else must be
measured. But it is already fairly well known; the hard days which followed are obscure and conjectural, and for that reason
deserve to be more than half the story.
