Dear Prof. Mayo:
I sent you last week under separate cover the copy of Harper's and the reprint from the Journal of Social Hygiene which you kindly lent me recently. I have read them both with a lot of interest, and, I think, profit.
Sometimes I find reading which makes me wish that I could let my correspondence take care of itself, and go off for a week or two of reflection and attempt at digestion of the ideas presented. In view of the lack of time and reflection, an adequate reaction to your article "Sin" is out of the question, though a trivial comment in this connection may amuse you.
My wife in her earlier days taught Sunday School. She reports, however, that she gave it up when she realized that there were apparently only two answers to all the questions that Sunday School teachers were instructed to ask of their young charges, the one being, "God" and the other being, "Sin." This shows how aptly the educational technique in vogue in Sunday Schools has been gradually evolved to fit the age of the recipients of instruction.
Sincerely yours,
Alan Gregg
