This wire service article reports on Russian scientists who maintain the "creation of life and modification of heredity
in a test tube will not be possible for many years, if ever." Nirenberg's collaboration with Russian scientists is
mentioned and his early work in genetics is summarized. The reporter concludes that because a given nucleotide triplet always
specifies the same amino acid in all species, "it appears that nature has evolved from one ancestor."
